HORSE LAYOVER

For guests that own their horses
and want to explore this area by horseback, we have a stabling
area for your equine friends. About 20% of our guests love to
bring their horses along to have luxury accommodations for both
of you. We can accommodate a maximum of 5 horses in 4 12' X 12'
partially covered pipe corral stalls and 1 uncovered 12' X 24'
pipe stall. We
have mapped out many of the trails in nearby Sierra National
Forest and Yosemite and assist you in planning your rides. Trailering off the property to the trailheads is very easy, the
trailering time varies from 15 to 50 minutes depending on the
trail you choose. The per night charge for the stalls is $15 per
horse. For guests that do not have their own horses, there are
several stables nearby for guided rides.
Our favorite trails - we
provide maps for guests of The Homestead
Worman Mill- easy to
moderate, old logging roads- great for spring and fall- 4-5 hour
loop.
Bass Lake- Cowboy Trail-
easy to moderate, this trail and logging roads were used to take
cattle to the high country. 4-5 hour round trip to a beautiful
vista overlooking Bass Lake.
Sierra National Forest to
Yosemite Big Trees- This is the trail from Yosemite Trails
Pack Station- moderate to difficult with stream crossings, lush
foliage, early summer has wild azaleas and dogwood. 3 hours - or
you can take outer loop of giant sequoias and continue onto
Wawona.
Nelder Grove- 3 trail
rides out of this area - easy to moderate- logging roads in two
different directions and a third option which is an all time
favorite of many guests which is a combination of logging roads
and single track trails- takes you right by Giant Sequoias that
you can touch. 3-4 hour loop. Photos below are on this trail
June 2006-
Wawona to The Big Trees.-
great trail inside Yosemite, you’ll end up at the Giant Sequoias
from a different direction than the pack station. Easy to
moderate trail about 3 hours round trip- or you can explore
longer around the Mariposa Big Trees area on the outer loop
trail.
